Lock-In

We have a confirmed time for our lock-in. It is going to start on 7:30 pm on Thursday and end on noon the next day (Friday).

May/Now June Activity

We are thinking of playing Capture the Flag with CUMC on June 14 (Saturday). Following this, we (PUMC) would go back to the church for a lock-in. We could force the parents to cook breakfast for us, and then we could go to 8:00am service in our PJs. Comments?

Youth Benefit Concert for SSP

On Friday, May 23, the group put on a benefit concert. The concert featured performers from the youth group as well as performers from Fullerton Junior College. The performances were excellent and we had left over fundraiser chocolate for concessions. The event was a huge success raising $964.75 for our missions trip. We greatly thank all of those who supported us by buying tickets and concessions.

Capture the Flag with CUMC

I was looking into places to play capture the flag and I remembered two parks. We should really discuss this when we’re not so busy with fundraisers. The rules would be relatively simple, 6′ x 6′ cones with flag in the middle (it would be kinda cool if we had a real flag too), if you get tagged you go to jail, you can get people out of jail by tagging them, etc.

Craig Regional Park (I played here with another church once and it was a great deal of fun)

Koch Park (Not a bad location with its proximity to the church)

Tri-City Park (There is always here of course, but with the lake/pond, I don’t think it’s necessarily a good idea)

May Activity

As everyone knows, we do an activity every month. However, Blair’s normally very creative and beyond average sized brain cannot come up with anything this month. She needs help. Comment about ideas, or days you suggest we do it on!

Blog Update

I thought it would be a good idea to put an update and let everyone know exactly what is going on and what capabilities you, as members, have.

1. This is most likely the final design for the blog, we discussed themes on Wednesday and there seemed to be no objections. We will likely keep the pages we have now, but if you have any suggestions for additional pages, please let us know.
2. All members (with a few exceptions, and you will be notified separately) are automatically contributors. Look for a post soon that details your powers.
3. We have set up an e-mail address which can be found on the “Contact Us” page.
4. If you have any comments or suggestions for the blog, please add them here (for now) so that they are all in one place.

We sent out new e-mails to most of you on Wednesday, so hopefully we’ll be seeing you soon…

1. Administrator
The Admin can do everything. Complete power over posts, comments, settings, theme choice, import, users - the whole shebang. Nothing is off-limits, including deleting the entire blog.

2. Editor
They can publish any posts, edit any posts, edit any published posts, edit any pages, moderate comments, manage categories, manage links and upload files. They can also delete any posts and any pages. They can read, edit and delete private posts.

3. Author
Is able to edit their posts, publish their posts and upload files. And they can delete their posts too.

4. Contributor
They can edit their posts but cannot publish. Basically contributors can write posts and save them, but they have to be approved by someone who can publish.

If you look on the sidebar, you’ll see that we can post text there. I was thinking that we could have some updatable “verse of the week” or “quote of the week” (or some kind of combination of the two). I was just thinking we need more Jesus in our blog. Suggestions below?
I’ll put something there for now.

SSP Fundraisers

A movie night was held in April and was very successful.

Chocolate will be sold after the first service until May 11th.

There will be a benefit concert on May 23rd.

Multi-Media Applications!

I thought we should test the full capacity of this blog and so after the jump I’ve embedded a few videos. It’s important to realize first the intention of these videos. These were used for outreach to make people laugh and realize their preconceived notions of Jesus were wrong. This more accurately describes the intention of the videos:

In the Spring of 2003, Vintage21 had a four week series on Jesus Christ, taking a deep look at what He said and did. It was difficult at times to get past our preconceived notions that had been developed by staunch, starched Sunday School classes of old. This is a satirical look at what some people think Jesus is like. Thank goodness He’s not.

Just a Thought…

Jason and I were talking this morning and were considering another joint PUMC/CUMC event. Jason had suggested we not do a traditional sport and I was considering Capture the Flag or something similar. I think we should challenge CUMC in a similar fashion and play in a park somewhere (either Tri-City or another larger park). Well, chime in and let us know your thoughts, we can talk about it on Wednesdays and Sundays also.
